Helping Peoria Schools to keep politics out of the classroom

Meet Becky

While I loved working in-house as a multi-million listener podcast host, life coach and business consultant for many years, I continued to feel that I had more to give. During this time, I was also raising four children elementary and middle school. One of my children has had some significant challenges with autism while in school. I devoted most of my time to being fully involved with the teachers and admin supporting my kids and their schools. In addition, I teach a high school class of twenty kids four days a week during the school year. I was asked by administration to be the Parent Volunteer Organization President for my kids school for a couple of years. During my tenure, I was able to raise over $250,000 for the school, providing shading, synthetic grass, shade structures and other items for the campus that were badly needed. I carry that drive and passion with me into everything that I do. Now that I have been involved with the school board for six months, I can see the items that are the biggest roadblocks for our students, faculty and admin. I have been working with members of the current school board as well as the administrators on the district level to help them make the necessary changes. When a difficult decision needs to be made, I am willing to make it, no matter if it makes my odds of getting re-elected to the school board better or worse. I am here to contribute all that I am for the betterment of our students. I firmly believe that this is how every board member should be operating - Get involved with the schools, attend as many events as possible, and make the best decision with the information provided that will be of the most benefit to the students and teachers.

A Labor of Love

I found out that one of my children had Autism only after years of testing, occupational therapy, and many other treatments. Once this determination was made, we were able to get the support we needed from schools, doctors, and state resources. I encourage you to support the Autism community by getting involved. Thousand of kids in Arizona suffer from symptoms of Autism and don’t even know it. When the parents do find out about it, they struggle to find the appropriate resources to help their child learn and grow into functioning members of society.

Becky’s Family

I have been married to Taylor for over 20 years and have a beautiful family of four children. There is one missing from this picture because he is serving a two year mission for his church in Tanzania Africa. I believe that strong family values are the most important foundation that can be given to any child. A home where the children are loved and supported provides the greatest opportunity for success for those children. I have a unique perspective since one of my children has Autism. This has been a unique journey that started when he was very young. Learning how to navigate those challenges within the school system has been invaluable. As a result, I have been heavily involved in all of my children’s schools from the beginning. I am hoping to be able to give back to the community through serving on the schoolboard with my unique perspective and experience.
